Train as a facilitator

Help fathers and their sons build stronger relationships, and help boys grow up with a healthy sense of who they are.

Could you be a Rising Sons facilitator?

Rising Sons brings small groups of fathers and their sons aged 8 to 10 together once a month for a year. Through play, challenges, storytelling, movement and conversation, they have time to connect, explore and learn alongside other fathers and boys.

We're recruiting a new cohort of facilitators to lead Rising Sons groups in communities around the UK. You'll train across three weekends between November 2026 and March 2027, then begin delivering Rising Sons to your own group from May 2027.

Who we're looking for

We're not looking only for people with extensive experience. We're looking for men who are curious, grounded, open to learning, willing to be challenged, able to listen and committed to showing up for the work and for one another.

Two strands to the training

The training has two equally important strands, and you'll work on both across all three weekends.

Learning to deliver the programme

You'll learn the Rising Sons programme, practise facilitating sessions and develop the skills needed to create safe, engaging and meaningful spaces for boys and their dads.

Personal development and men's work

You'll take part in reflection, personal development and men's work, exploring how you show up in groups and relationships and developing your capacity as a facilitator.

Training dates

Three residential weekends, Friday to Sunday. Attendance at all three is part of the training.

You'll also have 6 supervision sessions during your first year, so you're supported as you lead your own group.

What the role asks of you

Becoming a facilitator is a commitment that continues well beyond the three weekends.

An ongoing community

The facilitator cohort becomes a community. Facilitators support one another during and after the training, take part in the wider Rising Sons community and offer peer support while delivering their groups.

Building your own group

Facilitators are responsible for building their own Rising Sons group. That means actively promoting the programme in your community and recruiting around 8 to 10 father-son pairs to take part.

A paid role

£240 to £600 per two-hour session

Facilitating Rising Sons is paid work. Once you're running a cohort, you could earn between these amounts for every two-hour session.

Your trainers

The programme is led by Scott and Hakay, who bring years of experience in men's work, youth mentoring and group facilitation.
